Thankfully Reading 2011 - Book I'm Most Thankful For

Jenn has given the participants of the Thankfully Reading 2011 our first mini-challenge.  We are to write about the book we are most thankful for.

 

This is the book I'm most thankful for, Dr. Seuss, The Cat in the Hat.   That may seem strange to hear from a forty-something woman, but this is the book with which I learned to read.  I hadn't started school yet, but my brother was learning to read.  I was fascinated and had to start learning as well, so my mother got this and started teaching me.

I remember feeling indignant that the Cat just came in and took over, making such a mess.  And I worried about the goldfish falling out of the bowl!

Armchair BEA: Who I Am and How do I Armchair?

Since I can't go to the BEA 2011, I found something just as good!  The Armchair BEA!  There's lots of fun to be had all week, so check it out.

For Monday, I'm supposed to tell more about who I am.  Well, I'm Maria and I'm an Army brat.  I have lived a few places around the U.S. and Germany and ended up in NC for now.  I'm an Office Manager and Technical Editor for an environmental consulting company.  Three cats own me, but there are five cats in my house, so the other two lay claim on me as well, usually at dinner time.  If I'm not reading, I'm computering, watching tv/movies, crocheting, or baking.

 I've been reading since I was around four.  Usually my mother had to tear the book out of my hand to get me to do anything else.  I read almost all genres, I love any good story.  About a month ago, I was surfing the net looking for a new book recommendation when I ran into this world of book review blogging.  I was hooked!  So To Read, Perchance to Dream was born!

I hope to make a lot of new friends with Armchair BEA and share a lot of review and blogging tips.

I Love Books!

I've been reading since I was a little girl and absolutely love it.  I like all kinds of books:  Historical, Scifi/Fantasy, Christian, Self-Help, Mystery, Romance, Classics, Westerns, Spy, Comedy, etc. 

I was surfing the net and found people reviewing books on their blog and thought I'd jump in.  I'll read just about anything except erotica.  I don't want to have to blush the whole time I write my review!

I'll get started entering book reviews as fast as I can, so keep coming back and let me know how I'm doing.  I love making new friends.
